The Written Word
“The moving finger writes; and, having writ, moves on: nor all thy piety nor wit shall lure it back to cancel half a line, nor all thy tears wash out a word of it. — Omar Khayyam (1048 - 1131)

Helping your writing take shape…
I work with writers and students individually and sometimes in creative writing workshops. I will work with you on your book, screenplay, article, essay, or any other writing you need to produce. I can help you to build it up, or to pare it down. Bring me your raw material and I will transform it into concise, fluent, interesting prose, while retaining your voice. I help you to clarify and deliver your message; I act as a sounding board; I listen, offer suggestions, improvements and guidance. I pay close attention to content and flow, as well as to grammar, punctuation and style. My aim is to encourage and inspire. Contact me, and bring a trained eye and ear to your writing. Yes, you need to listen to writing too!
If you're writing fiction, I advise on how to advance the plot, develop the characters, bring the dialogue alive, and arrange the chapters to the best advantage.
If you're writing non-fiction, I advise on how best to tell the story and on how to put it together.
Constant updates: As we progress, I edit it for grammar, style and content. When the project is complete I do a final edit.
I've edited a number of books, and many essays and articles. I am a careful editor with a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the English language. I edit both for content and flow, being careful always to retain the author's voice, and to advance the author's intention. I will bring your work up to a professional standard.
Telling your Story (Ghostwriting)
You have the story or have lived the life; I write the book from your outline, story, or ideas. If you have a story or idea but do not want to write about it yourself, you can hire me to write it for you.
Putting your words on the screen
I can give you a professional opinion on your screenplay, with detailed notes. I have analysed hundreds of books and scripts for film purposes, working freelance for film companies, studios and talent agencies, such as William Morris Agency in Los Angeles. I can help you develop your script to a professional standard, or 'doctor' it for you. My work in the field of drama has given me a good ear for dialogue and for the 'sound' of good writing as I read it.
Writer
I have written plays, poetry, articles, short stories, screenplays, book reviews, website content and art commentary, and I am currently collaborating on a book
